List of EMRS Schools in Assam 2025: Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) is an initiative by the central government to provide quality education to tribal children. There are a total of 14 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Assam. Among the 14 Eklavya schools, only five Eklavya school is functioning.

About EMRS School

EMRS is a Model Residential School. Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in India started in the year 1997-98 to impart quality education to tribal (ST) children in remote areas in order to enable them to avail of opportunities in high and professional educational courses and get employment in various sectors. EMRS schools focus on academic education as well as the all-round development of the students. Each EMRS School in India has a capacity of 480 students, catering to students from classes 6 to 12.

In 2022, the central government has decided that every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons, will have an Eklavya Residential School. Eklavya schools will be on par with Navodaya Vidyalaya and will have special facilities for preserving local art and culture besides providing training in sports and skill development.
