Who Was Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma?
Upendra Nath Brahma was born on March 31, 1956, in Boragari village of Assam’s Kokrajhar district Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma is known as the “Father of the Bodo people” and is remembered for his lifelong dedication to the upliftment of the Bodo community in Assam. Through his leadership and vision, he advocated for the rights, education, and cultural preservation of indigenous communities. His philosophy of “Live and Let Live” continues to inspire generations across India. He passed away on May 1, 1990, but remains a symbol of hope and strength for many.
Lala Lajpat Rai Marg as Boofa Upendra Nath Brahma Marg
At the 57th ABSU Annual Conference 2025, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made a historic announcement. They declared that a major road in New Delhi, will be renamed Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Marg in honor of the great Bodo leader UN Brahma.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has officially renamed a stretch of Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in South Delhi as Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg. This road is situated near Kailash Colony Metro Station and runs alongside the Bodoland Guest House.
As part of the Bodofa Remembrance Day celebration, a statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma will be unveiled in Kailash Colony, New Delhi. The event will include the official naming ceremony of the newly renamed road.
