Indian Air Force AFCAT Vacancy 2025 Details
The Indian Air Force has announced a total of 284 vacancies to be filled through the AFCAT 2 2025 Exam for courses commencing in July 2026. These vacancies are for Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Flying Branch as well as Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Indian Air Force AFCAT Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for AFCAT 2 2025 must meet the following eligibility conditions related to nationality, age, marital status, educational qualifications, and physical standards.
Nationality
- Must be a citizen of India as per the Citizenship Act, 1955.
Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)
Flying Branch
- Age: 20 to 24 years
(Born between 02 July 2002 and 01 July 2006) - For CPL Holders (DGCA license): Upper age limit is 26 years
(Born between 02 July 2000 and 01 July 2006)
Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches
- Age: 20 to 26 years

Marital Status
- Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course.
- Marriage is not permitted during the training period. If a candidate marries during training, they will be disqualified and liable to refund training expenses.
Educational Qualification
Flying Branch (AFCAT and NCC Special Entry):
- Graduation with minimum 60% marks in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level,
OR - BE/B Tech degree with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university.
Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:
- Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics)
- Minimum 60% marks in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
- Four-year degree in Engineering/Technology or cleared Sections A and B of AMIE/ASI with minimum 60% marks in disciplines specified in the official notification.
- Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical)
- Same as above, but with relevant Mechanical Engineering specializations.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches
- Administration & Logistics: Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
- Accounts: B.Com with 60% marks.
- Education: Postgraduate degree in any discipline with 50% marks and graduation with 60% marks.
- Meteorology: Postgraduate degree in specified science subjects with minimum 50% marks.
NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch Only)
- NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ Certificate holders can apply.
- Must have:
- Graduation with minimum 60% marks with Maths and Physics at 10+2 level,
OR - BE/B Tech degree with 60% marks.
- Graduation with minimum 60% marks with Maths and Physics at 10+2 level,
Indian Air Force AFCAT Salary
IAF AFCAT Salary: Below is the AFCAT salary structure according to the 7th Pay Commission.
- Cadets in the final year of training will be given a stipend of Rs. 56,100/-
- After successful completion of training, Level 10 Young Air Officers will be allotted in the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100/- to 1,10,700/-)
- Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500 will also be included.
AFCAT 2 2025 Exam Fee
- A Non refundable fee of Rs. 550/- for AFCAT entry may be paid online payment mode.
- Not applicable for NCC Special entry and Meteorology.

Air Force AFCAT 02/2025 Apply Online: As per the AFCAT 2 2025 notification, the online registration process has been started on 2 June 2025 and will continue until 1 June 2025. Follow the below steps to complete the application process.

Indian Air Force AFCAT Selection Process
IAF AFCAT Selection Process: The selection process for AFCAT 2025 includes three stages which are a computer-based test, Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), and Medical Exam.
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): The selection of candidates in the Indian Air Force ( IAF) is through the AFCAT Online Examination. Candidates need to appear in the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The exam will be held for 300 marks.
- AFSB Test: The shortlisted applicants will be called for the interview or the personality test. This round will screen the candidates on their persona and intellect.
- Medical Examination: The applicants must be medically fit to be eligible for the job.
