Assam Cabinet Meeting 10 July 2025
1. Preventing Coercive Practices by Private Nursing Homes and Hospitals
- Hospitals must hand over the dead body within 2 hours after death is confirmed, even if the bill is not paid.
- If they delay, they must report to police and health officers within 4 hours.
- A 24×7 free helpline (104) is available for families to report any misuse.
- If someone complains, the government officer will visit the hospital and release the body if wrongly held.
- Hospitals doing wrong things will face punishment:
- License suspension (for 3–6 months)
- Penalty up to Rs. 5 lakh
- Can also be blacklisted or permanently shut down if repeated.
2. Supporting exam preparation through Prerona Asoni
- Students in Class 10 (HSLC 2026) will get Rs. 300 every month from November 1, 2025.
- This is only for students in ASSEB-affiliated schools.
- The money will be sent directly to student bank accounts.
- Students can use it to buy books, notebooks, food, and study materials.
- Forms to apply will be available from September 1 to October 31, 2025
3. Financial Assistance to Udasin Bhakats
- The government will give Rs. 1500 per month to Udasin Bhakats (celibate monks).
- This is for monks living in Satra temples of Assam.
- The aim is to help them live well and continue Assam’s spiritual traditions.
4. Enchanced Remuneration For Aganwadi Workers and Helpers
The Assam Cabinet has increased the monthly incentive:
- Anganwadi Workers will now get Rs. 8,000 (increase of Rs. 1500).
- Anganwadi Helpers will now get Rs. 4,000 (increase of Rs. 750).
These new payments will start from October 1, 2025.
5. Enchanced Remuneration For Gaon Pradhans
- Monthly salary for Gaon Pradhans (GP) increased from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 14,000.
- This new amount will be given from October 1, 2025.
- This benefit will also apply to GPs of forest villages.
6. Assam Government has started the Gaja Mitra Scheme to reduce conflict between humans and elephants
The scheme will be launched in 8 districts where such conflicts happen most: Goalpara, Udalguri, Nagaon, Baksa, Sonitpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, Biswanath
7. The Assam Cabinet has appoved the renaming of Rabindra Nath Tagore University to Rabindra Nath Thakur Vishwavidyala
8. Land Allotment under Mission Basundhara 3.0
The Assam Government has approved land allotment for:
- 127 government infrastructure projects in urban areas.
- 2,329 non-government organizations like schools, religious groups, and socio-cultural institutions.
This is done under the Mission Basundhara 3.0 project to support development.
9. GST Refund/Reimbursement for Bell Metal Industry
- A new scheme is approved to help indigenous Bell Metal manufacturers.
- Under this, the government will refund 100% of SGST (State GST) they paid.
- This move will give financial relief to local bell metal workers and boost traditional industries.
