Assam Cabinet Meeting 27 June 2025: During the recent Assam Cabinet meeting held on 27 June, 2025, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, several key decisions were taken. These includes-Ensuring fair represtantaion in Zilla Parishads, Allotment of land Under Mission Basundhara 3.0, Empowering the Moran and Matak Communities.

1. Fair Representation in Zilla Parishads
- The Assam cabinet Has appoved Amendment of Assam Panchayat (Constitution) Rules, 1995.
- The Reservation for ZP President/Vice President to be done by lottery and rotation.
- ZPs already reserved for SC/ST by lottery & rotation will be excluded.
- Aims to ensure equitable opportunity for SC/ST constituencies.
- Lottery process to be transparent and in the presence of all stakeholders.
2. Cabinet approved Government land allotment under Mission Basundhara 3.0
Cabinet approved Government land allotment under Mission Basundhara 3.0
- 942 infrastructure projects of State Govt Depts in 11 districts.
- 1,977 land allotments to non-government educational, religious, and socio-cultural institutions in 12 districts.
3. The Assam Cabinet Empowering the Moran and Matak Communities
- Cabinet approved amendments to the Moran and Matak Autonomous Council Acts, 2020.
- Moran & Matak Council Areas will include only the respective community populations as notified by the State Government.
- The rights of other communities in the region will remain unaffected.
- Amendment aims to define Council Areas clearly for both Moran and Matak communities.
- Each Autonomous Council to have a General Council of 30 elected members.
- Out of 30, 5 seats will be reserved for women of the respective communities.
