Assam Cabinet Meeting 27 March 2025: The Assam Cabinet was held on March 27, 2025, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. During the meeting, several key decisions were taken. These key decisions includes- Boosting income of Annadatas, Darrang Medical College, Extension of FPS License Validity, Ensuring Better Child Care, Grants relief to the salaried middle class, Relief to the tea industry by extending the tax exemption, Conversion of Nayekgaon Pt I RF under BTC Kokrajhar/Haltugaon into a Reserve Forest, Renaming of Science Technology and Climate Change & Environment and Forest Department, Ensuring ease of doing business for small traders.
Assam Cabinet Meeting 27 March 2025
Here are the key decisions taken in the Assam Cabinet Meeting on March 27, 2025.
1. The Cabinet, in support of Annadatas, has approved the implementation of an additional support price over and above MSP for paddy and mustard.
- Paddy- Rs. 250 per quintal (Additional Support Price)
- Mustard- Rs. 500 per quintal (Additional Support Price)
2. The Cabinet has approved a new medical college and hospital in Darrang with 430 beds and an annual intake of 100 MBBS students.
- Additionally, the Cabinet has directed the addition of BSc Nursing Schools and GNM Schools.
3. The Cabinet has approved the extension of the validity period of licenses for all Fair Price Shops in the state.
4. The Cabinet has approved an amendment to the Child Care Leave rules, allowing single male state government employees who are widowers or divorced with custody of upto two children to avail child care leave.
5. The Cabinet has approved a draft notification to exempt the payment of professional tax for salaries up to Rs.15,000 for the FY 2025-26.
- Salary Upto Rs. 15,000- NIL Tax
- Salary Upto Rs. 15,000- Rs. 25,000- Rs. 180/ Month
- Salary Upto Rs, 25,000 and above- Rs. 208/ Months
6. The Cabinet has approved the extension of tax exemption for the tea industry from paying cess on green tea leaves for a further period of two years, effective from January 2025.
7. The Cabinet has approved the conversion of Nayekgaon Pt 1 PRF under BTC Kokrajhar/Haltugaon, covering a total area of 774 hectares, into a Reserve Forest.
8. The Cabinet has approved, in principle, the initiation of the process for the reorganization of health blocks in alignment with districts and LACs after delimitation.
9. The Cabinet has approved renaming the Science, Technology, and Climate Change & Environment and Forest Department to ensure effective coordination of climate change efforts.
- Science Technology and Climate Change– Science and Technology Department
- Environment and Forest Department– Envroment Forest and Climate Change Department and declaring it as a nodal department for climate change related activities
10. The Cabinet has approved amendments to the Assam Panchayat (Financial Rules) 2002, pertaining to the settlement of haats, ghats, fisheries, ponds, etc.
