Bodofa Remembrance Day
The death anniversary of Bodofa has been observed by the Bodos every year for decades, known as Bodofa Day. Starting in 2025, Bodofa Day now will be celebrated across the entire state of Assam as Bodofa Remembrance Day.
At the 57th ABSU Annual Conference 2025, Union Minister Shri Amit Shah of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a significant announcement. They declared that May 1, the death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, will now be observed as Bodofa Remembrance Day across Assam.
Additionally, the Bodofa Cemetery is set to be upgraded in the near future.This day will pay tribute to his leadership and contributions to the Bodo community. It is a time to remember his efforts for peace and unity.
Bodofa Remembrance Day 2025 Celebration
The first Bodofa Remembrance Day will be celebrated in 2025 in Delhi. The celebration will take place on May 1, marking the 35th death anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. A statue of Bodofa will be unveiled, and a street in Kailash Colony, New Delhi will be named Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Marg. This is a tribute to his immense contributions to the upliftment of the downtrodden community, as well as his efforts in strengthening democratic values and community rights.
Lala Lajpat Rai Marg as Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Marg
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has officially announced the renaming of a major road in New Delhi. Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will now be known as Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Marg, in honor of the revered Bodo leader, Upendra Nath Brahma, popularly known as Bodofa.
