Sahitya Akademi Award 2023: Sahitya Akademi has announced its annual Sahitya Akademi Award 2023 in 24 Indian Languages consisting of 9 books of poetry, 6 novels, 5 short stories, 3 essays, and 1 Literary Study which has won the Sahitya Akademi Award 2023.
The Award has been given by the central government for the best literature of every year. Accordingly, the central government announced the Sahitya Akademi Award for Literature on 20 December 2023.
The Sahitya Akademi Award was first established in 1954. Since its inception, the Sahitya Academi Award has been presented every year to the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognized by the Akademi. The award amount, which was Rs.5,000 since inception, had been enhanced to Rs.10,000 from 1983, Rs.25,000 from 1988, Rs.40,000 from 2001, Rs.50,000 from 2003 and is now Rs.1,00,000 from 2009.

Sahitya Akademi Award Selection Process
The books were selected based on recommendations made by a Jury of three members in the concerned languages by the procedure laid down for the purpose. As per the procedure, the Executive Board declared the Awards based on unanimous selections made by the Jurors or selections made based on the majority vote.
Sahitya Akademi Award Details
The Award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque a shawl and an amount of Rs. 1,00,000 towards cash content each will be presented to the awardees at the award presentation Function.
The Award Presentation Function will be held on 12 March 2024 at Kamani Auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi
