Assam Cabinet Meeting 22 June 2025: During the recent Assam Cabinet meeting held on 22 June, 2025, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, several key decisions were taken. These includes-

Assam Cabinet Meeting 22 June 2025

Here are the key decisions taken in the Assam Cabinet Meeting on June 22, 2025.

1. The Cabinet has approved the Shraddhanjali scheme to ensure lawful and coordinated transportation of deceased persons from other states back to Assam.

2. A new Rabha Development Council will be set up for Rabha people living outside the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) area.

  • The Council will undertake welfare schemes for socio-economic, educational, and cultural development of the Rabha community beyond RHAC’s jurisdiction.

3. The Assam Cabinet has appoved Welfare Measures for Transgender Community

  • The transgender community has now been officially declared as ‘Socially and Educationally Backward Classes’ in Assam.
  • Transgender persons who are original inhabitants of Assam will be provided with Transgender Identity Cards by respective Deputy Commissioners (DCs), enabling easier access to welfare schemes.

4. The Cabinet Approves Promotion Policy for Anganwadi Workers

  • The Cabinet has decided to fill up to 50% of Anganwadi Supervisor posts from among serving Anganwadi Workers.
  • Eligibility: Minimum 10 years of experience and a graduation degree in Arts, Science, Commerce, or allied disciplines.
  • The remaining posts will be filled through the SLRC Grade III recruitment process.

5. The Cabinet Approves Preservation of Beels in Goalpara

  • Urpad Beel (1,256 hectares) and Hasila Beel (245 hectares) in Goalpara have been notified as Proposed Reserve Forests (PRFs).

6. The Cabinet Approves Enhanced Compensation for Animal Attack Victims

  • Ex-gratia compensation for loss of human life due to animal attacks has been increased from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
  • Crop damage compensation has also been enhanced from Rs 7,500 to Rs 8,000 per bigha.

7. The Cabinet Has Approved Doubling of Honorarium for Cook-cum-Helpers

  • The monthly additional honorarium for Cook-cum-Helpers under the PM POSHAN scheme has been enhanced from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 and will be effective from October 2025, for 10 months annually.
  • This decision will benefit over 1 lakh cook-cum-helpers across Assam.

8. The Cabinet Has Approved Annual Increment for Newly Appointed Teachers

  • The 1st Annual Increment has been approved for teachers appointed under the Special Recruitment Drive in LP, UP, and Secondary Schools.
  • The increment will be disbursed in July 2025, benefiting over 26,000 teachers.

9. The Cabinet Has Approved Extension of Housing and Vehicular Benefits

Apun Ghar and Apun Bahan benefits will now be extended to regular and contractual employees up to 60 years of age in the following organizations:

  1. National Health Mission, Assam
  2. Samagra Shiksha Axom
  3. Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd.
  4. Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd.
  5. Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd.

10. The Cabinet Has Approved Rs 3,000 Cr Assam Industrial & Green Growth Fund

  • A SEBI-registered Alternate Investment Fund will be set up with Rs 3,000 crore to mobilise long-term capital.
  • The fund will support renewable energy, green infrastructure, priority startups, agro-tech, tourism, MSMEs, and other priority sectors.

11. The Cabinet Has Approved Rs 498 Cr for Power Infrastructure Upgrade

  • The 40 existing transformers across various AEGCL substations in Assam will be upgraded to higher capacity.

12. The Cabinet approved the allotment of land for establishing a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Chandrapur, Kamrup (M).
