Bishnu Prasad Rabha was born on 31 January 1909 in Dacca, British India. His parents were Gethi Mech and Gopal Chandra Mushahary, a British police officer. Though born into a Bodo family, he was raised by a Rabha family and adopted the surname ‘Rabha’. He studied in Tezpur and Calcutta.
