Model College in Assam 2025: The Government of Assam is setting up government model colleges in many districts in phases, we’d like to share the list of government model colleges in Assam. Some of these model degree colleges are named Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Adarsha Mahavidyalaya (PDUAM), and two are named after Padmanath Gohain Baruah and Bir Raghab Moran.

Govt Model Colleges in Bodoland
Model College in Bodoland 2025: The Assam government is setting up three government model colleges simultaneously at Baksa, Udalguri, and Chirang districts of Bodoland Territoral Region, Assam. The list of three govt Model Colleges in Bodoland has shared below:
- Govt Model College Kumarikata, Baksa
- Govt Model College Koila Moila, Chirang
- Govt Model College Kalaigaon, Udalguri
Admissions are now open for the newly established Model Colleges in the BTR districts, which will be fully functional from the academic year 2025. The admission process began on 12 April 2025, and the last date to apply is 22 May 2025. The Model Colleges are designed to offer modern facilities and quality education to support students’ academic growth.

About Govt Model Colleges
The Government of India (GOI) has launched a new scheme, “Scheme for Financing New Model Colleges in Educationally Backward Districts (EBDs).” Through this EBDs scheme, the state government or the Govt of Assam (GOA), will be provided financial assistance in constructing the model colleges in the state and running the same. The location of such a model college will be a remote and underdeveloped area where the reach of a good education is rare, and the enrolment ratio is less.
This EBDs scheme aims to provide higher education up to degree courses (UG), i.e., it’s also called model degree college. The aim of establishment of these colleges is to offer degree courses, the government plans to introduce post-graduate courses (PG) and skill development courses per the National Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2022).

The Government has announced the 10 new Model Colleges under constructions in the Assam, will start functioning from the academic year 2025. The admission process for the 2025 session has already begun, and interested students can now apply online through the SAMARTH Portal.
