Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park: The Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park has been officially declared the 3rd National Park in BTR and the 8th in Assam. The announcement was made on 15th August 2024 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, marking a significant milestone for the region and the state.

In the Assam Cabinet meeting held on 16th February 2025, the Assam government officially notified the Sikhna Jwhwlao NP in Chirang and Kokrajhar districts. This designation recognizes the park as a protected area in both districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) of Assam, aiming to preserve its biodiversity, wildlife, and ecosystem.

Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park

Sikhna Jwhwlao NP is a newly declared national park in Assam’s Chirang and Kokrajhar districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). This park is spread over 316.29 sq.km is part of the Greater Manas Conservation Landscape and connects four other regional parks. The Assam government officially notified it during the Cabinet meeting held on 16th February 2025. This national park aims to protect and preserve the region’s rich biodiversity, wildlife, and ecosystems.
