Northeast Military School- Assam New Sainik School
The state Assam officially now has two sainik schools- Goalpara Sainik School and Northeast Military Sainik School. The Northeast Military Sainik School approval was granted by the Sainik Schools Society (SSS), Ministry of Defence, after considering the school’s application (No. SNKLP008052022).
The school will now operate under the Sainik School system, following specific guidelines laid out in the Rules and Regulations (R&R) and the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Ministry.
New BTR Sainik School Approval Requirements
The Northeast Military Sainik School in Bodoland has received provisional approval for a period of two years. During this time, the school’s performance will be closely monitored before granting regular approval. This provisional approval is subject to the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the school and the Sainik Schools Society (SSS). Additionally, the school is required to submit an annual approval fee of Rs. 25,000 to the official bank account of the Sainik Schools Society.
Northeast Military School – New Sainik School in Bodoland
The Northeast Military School is the first Sainik school in BTR approved on 25 April 2025, This approval marks a major step forward in expanding access to military-style education and national service-oriented training in the region.
On 11 November 2021, the Assam Government asked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to set up five new Sainik Schools in Silchar, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dhemaji. No further update on those requests has been announced yet.

Assam New Sainik School Admission & Structure
The school will begin admissions for Class VI and Class IX only, following the standard pattern prescribed in the Rules and Regulations.
The school may operate with two separate sections:
- One section under the Sainik School system (from Class VI onwards).
- Another section for regular (non-Sainik School) students.
If both verticals are maintained, classes and activities will be held separately for each group.
